What was the inspiration behind your artwork?

We wanted to visualize this "under-rated" population of cells because of the important role they play in brain health and immunity.

What do you see as the similarity between science and art? Why is science-art important in today's society?

Both science and art are attempts to understand and find order in the world around us. Individually, these categories fail to provide a sufficient framework for capturing universe and all of its nuance. However, each modality provides access to new and distinct truths not necessarily revealed by the other. Not only is Science-art is a great way to make scientific truths accessible to a broader audience, but it also uncovers new truths about scientific topics not previously examined under the lens of "art."
